About

The St. Albert Canoe and Kayak Club is a non profit organization, established in 1989. The club provides competitive and recreational canoe and kayaking programs for St. Albert and surrounding areas for both youths & adults.

The St. Albert Canoe and Kayak Club is an affiliated club of the Alberta Sprint Racing Canoe Association. ASRCA is the provincial governing body for the sport of Sprint Racing Canoe in the province of Alberta. Other Affiliations include Leduc Boat Club, Greater Edmonton racing canoe kayak club & the Calgary Canoe Club.

 

Paddle Ability

Program

This program is for people with physical or mental disabilities. The program is based on promoting fitness and enjoying the outdoors. We currently have athletes in this program who race locally and across Canada. The program is catered to the needs of each individual participant. If you are interested please contact the head coach, Joanne, for details on how you can join the program.

Coaching staff

The coaching staff are all NCCP qualified. The head coach, Joanne Devlin Morrison is currently finishing her level 4 in sprint Canoe/ kayak. All staff is certified in First Aid and CPR. Mary Lukasik is NCCP certified level 1.

Location

We paddle out of Kirk Lake, which is situated off the Yellowhead on 184St. and 122Ave.

Equipment

It is recommended that participants wear suitable clothing and bring a change of clothes with them. We also suggest participants bring their own towel and water bottle. The canoe club provides all other equipment. If individuals wish to wear their own PFD then that is encouraged.
